The hot rod calling has provided Tuckner with an interesting living drawing cars motors and related paraphernalia for speed shops toy companies and other auto-related businesses. Like the Fords he's owned it's a career he more or less stumbled upon. Rebelling against his parents' wishes that he "go to college" like everyone else Tuckner went to technical school for auto body repair instead. That knowledge is invaluable for hot rod work but 10- to 12-hour days at an auto body shop got his mind turning other possibilities. He decided to pursue a B.A. studying first graphic design and then industrial design at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Not long after Tuckner got that degree the owner of a toy company saw some of his art work online and asked him to do a line of shirts promo posters and box art for his company's toy cars. That work launched Tuckner's career as an illustrator which occupies him full-time. He's booked a month out and speed shops parts vendors and other merchants keep finding him mostly through his website www.tuckindustries.com
