editThe German Research Council DFG has created a Research Priority Programme 'Mechanisms of gene vector entry and persistence'. Projects investigating basic mechanisms of cell entry episomal maintenance and chromosomal insertion of transgenes are supported. A major aim is to understandthe processes determining the fate of gene-modified cells in the organism especially in the context of blood & immune cell formation hematolymphopoiesis. Virology cell biology hematology bioinformatics and mathematical modelling are integral components of these studies.
