ReaLife was first incorporated in August 2001 as non-profit community outreach aimed at reaching & serving youth and families in the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia. In April of 2003 God provided for ReaLife to purchase Sluggers Bar which is an unbelievable story if you can here it sometime on the corner of Richmond and Buckius streets. The next twelve months would be primarly consumed with the demolition and renovation of the bar into the newly established ReaLife Cafe made possible by many donations from local businesses and individuals and a ton of volunteer hours. The Cafe was established as a place for people from the surrounding communities to relax have some coffee and form relationships that explore faith and life. After living & serving in Bridesburg for close to 6 years in 2005 God called Rob & Val Burns out of their current jobs and into the direction of Church Planting with the Acts 29 Network. Shortly after a core team of people helped move ReaLife into a Missional Church Plant that officially launched in January of 2007. ReaLife held their Sunday gatherings in the ReaLife Cafe at 4600 Richmond St. for the first two years and as God grew the body of believers at ReaLife they moved to gathering in a school several blocks away still in the Bridesburg neighborhood of the city. In September 2009 Realife transitioned into their current location at Richmond Hall on 2619 E. Indiana Ave corner of Indiana & Thompson in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia. As the body of believers at ReaLife grew it was obvious that Gods Spirit and His Mission were at work not just in Bridesburg but in its surrounding neighborhoods as well. Following the Spirits leading the family of God at ReaLife began gathering and serving through Missional Communities and forged a partnership with Soma Communities in 2010. We see our Missional Communities as the primary organizing structure of our church and are excited at what God is doing in the neighborhoods where people are on mission together
