Electone has always been the brand name of Yamaha's electronic organ instrumentline. Over the years however Electone has come to essentially mean "playing everything myself" among enthusiasts. Electone has been described as the world's most complete musical instrument. It combines digital multi-keyboards drum machine and special effects into a comprehensive performance platform. With practice and determination a player can render incredibly realistic and stirring renditions of almost any style or genre of music. The Japanese are especially fond of referring to their organ playing talents as simply playing Electone. Through the years Yamaha has released countless models of Electone instruments. The instruments are identified by model numbers like D-1 GX-1 and EL-90. Starting with the ground-breaking and technologically advanced E-70 model Yamaha began blazing a new and innovative path in the organ industry by applying polyphonic synthesis technology calls "PASS" to an organ instrument. The results are the hallmark of Electone. Soon after the E-70 PASS models came the FXFS series which later evolving into the HXHS series. With these models came features never before found on organ-style instruments. This new genre of Electone allowed unheard-of creative expression and artistic freedom.
