What it does

Ekstera has developed and patented innovative new Stirling engines capable of generating electricity from a wide range of heat sources including industrial waste heat, biomass, biofuels, waste, geothermal, and many more. There is a huge amount of heat currently being wasted, and at the same time demand for electricity is rapidly increasing, so we can capitalize on this opportunity by converting this waste heat into affordable, clean, and reliable electricity. Our technology has finally unlocked the potential of Stirling engines as the most efficient way to convert heat into power and they are entirely scalable, thus they are well suited to industries with a lot of waste heat, that are also hard to decarbonize, like steel, cement, and others. The team is currently prototyping our Stirling engines and working towards a paid pilot in a steel mill. We are looking to form partnerships with industrial partners that have waste heat available which we can convert into electricity to reduce their costs and carbon emissions.
