What it does
"The Hurd Co. is a sustainable startup specializing in the production of agrilose™, a man-made cellulosic feedstock pulp derived entirely from agricultural waste. Apparel brands utilize agrilose™ to create viscose/rayon, modal, or lyocell fabrics, traditionally sourced from trees. The company's patented zero waste process significantly reduces water usage and energy consumption compared to conventional fiber pulp methods. With a focus on utilizing hemp byproducts, The Hurd Co. plans to expand its operations to include other high-volume feedstocks such as bagasse, corn, rice, and wheat. As a participant in the Fashion for Good Accelerator Program and alumni of LACI Innovators, UCLA Anderson Venture Accelerator, and Berkeley SkyDeck, The Hurd Co. is dedicated to driving sustainability and innovation in the fashion industry."
