The idea in full

What
Aeronode supplies national aviation authorities and airport operators with a certified low-altitude traffic and authorization service, installed with local air navigation partners who own the ground surveillance sites. Operators buy beyond-visual-line-of-sight authorizations per flight, and an open API lets inspection, delivery and survey companies build their dispatch on top of the same authorization primitive. Revenue is a fee on every authorized flight, split with the authority.
Why now
Degla Inc (yc F26) is building a fully autonomous intelligence layer in the sky and Meteoric (yc S26) flies drones over solar farms, so BVLOS operations are being funded in both of the last two cohorts. Moviation died in 2023 trying to sell air mobility service before any airspace layer existed to sell it through.
Wedge: first customer and entry point
One small national aviation authority with a live BVLOS pilot corridor, plus the two survey operators already flying it.
Path to 100x
Low-altitude airspace services are a $1-10B market at per-flight pricing, and designated service supplier approval in each jurisdiction is a license moat that takes years for a follower to replicate. Once operators write their dispatch against one authorization API, every new drone service built on it deepens the platform rather than competing with it.
Ceiling
Authorities treat per-flight fees as a regulated public utility charge, so flight volume grows and revenue per flight is capped near cost.
Closest real companies, as the generator saw them
Degla Inc and Meteoric fly the aircraft and need someone else's authorization; Aeronode never operates a drone and sells the layer underneath both. Moviation is the graveyard case for going straight to the flying service.
Main risk
A regulator awards a single national monopoly to an incumbent air navigation vendor and locks the category shut.

Five judges

Each judge scores every idea in the catalog with a named rubric; the venture judge decides whether a card is shown at all (4-5 is venture-grade).

  • Venture investor

    3/5

Per-flight authorization is a durable license primitive, but authorities pricing it as a regulated utility charge caps revenue near cost.

  • Bootstrapper

    2/5

Selling to national aviation authorities over three years, with per-flight fees they may regulate down to cost, is a decade-long path.

  • Operator

    2/5

Revenue depends on a national authority designating you first, and authorities price per-flight fees as a capped public utility charge.

  • Technologist

    3/5

Certified low-altitude traffic service is substantive, but the surveillance sites belong to air navigation partners and one national monopoly award closes the category.

  • Risk

    2/5

One regulator awarding national designation to an incumbent air navigation vendor closes the whole market per country.
