What it does

Fluid Wire Robotics takes remote manipulation capabilities to the next level! FWR embraces the vision of a future society where unmanned industrial facilities are reality and critical infrastructures located in remote areas of their planet, such as energy plants, offshore wind farms, mines and underwater pipelines, are autonomously maintained by robots. In the past years, pilot studies succeeded in proving this scenario achievable but existing harsh robots are complex and manipulation capabilities are generally limited with respect to the inspection skills. FWR builds the next-generation electric robotic arms to bring advanced manipulation capabilities in harsh environments with low complexity and reduced costs. Based on proprietary technology, the structure of FWR’s robots is completely different from any other existing robotic arm! The electric motors, as any other electric component, are located in an external actuation unit and the motors’ power is transferred to the robot joints by means of “Fluid Wires”, their efficient transmission system. Sealing and cooling the external unit is made easy by this structure, making their arms the ideal device to operate underwater and in explosive or reactive atmospheres. Their arms can also be easily redesigned to fit mobile robots.
