Homepage links analysis
What does this feature do?
This feature gives you an easy-to read graph in which you can compare the quantity of the inner links on the main page of your site to the quantity of external links on the same page. You can compare how the number of these links has fluctuated every month for the last two years.
Why is this data so important to me?
Inner links from the main page of the site show the most important sections of the site and serves as one of the most important factors of domain ranking as a whole.
External links from the main page tie the site with other sites and determines the site's niche. When it is easy for the search engines to pinpoint what you site is about, the chances of you faring better in your target niche is higher.
The relation of external links to inner links influences the distribution of the site's weight in general. When you are growing your site, be aware that there should be more inner links than external links. The home page links analysis enables you to check that you have more inner links than external links.
A further application of this data is for monitoring hacking – if you have a much larger than expected number of external links (or they have grown quickly), then this could be a sign that your site has been hacked and that links to SPAM resources have been added to the footer or hidden div elements in the HTML of your site. In this case, you need to take action immediately to delete the rogue links from your site.
